District Faculty MeetingsMarch 13, 2013:
At this meeting, grade levels will have an opportunity to discuss the successes and challenges of the close reading activity that they planned at the February 6th District Faculty Meeting. We will also begin to introduce writing within the Common Core. The meeting will focus on: 1) reviewing the three types of text included in the CCSS for writing, 2) discussing the importance of writing fluency (grades 1-6) and 3) planning a writing activity. The meeting will focus on: 1) revisiting/clarifying the concept of text complexity, 2) reviewing the alignment of text dependent questions with the complex parts of the text to support students' comprehension and 3) introducing annotation strategies.
