CCSS ELA Launch: To Boldly Go...
During the "launch" sessions, we will be taking a more holistic view of all strands (reading, writing, speaking and listening, language) and reviewing what we have done as a district.
Teachers in grade level spans will focus on the following:
K-2 will then focus on the importance of Foundational Skills across the K-2 band as well as looking at the reading standards for Literature and Informational Text as a lead into using read alouds as a powerful tool for achieving the goals of the Common Core.
Grades 3-6 will dig more deeply into how to use the BAP lessons in grade level collaboration to launch discussions about instruction aligned with the CCSS. We will also be focusing, for upper grades, on using writing and speaking and listening standards as a place to begin PBL and/or backwards planning.
