## CA CCSS Mathematics:

The Essentials

**CA CCSS Mathematics**

The CA CCSSM state what students need to know and be able to do in mathematics.

They include two types of standards: Mathematical Practice Standards and Mathematical Content Standards.

Narrative documents describing the progression of a topic across a number of grade levels, informed both by research on children's cognitive development and by the logical structure of mathematics.

The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) videos clarify the meaning of selected, individual standards.

Achieve the Core you can find a "Focus By Grade Level" document that outlines the major work for each grade level.

Explore this site to learn more about the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practice and how they can be connected to the content standards. Use the Illustrations on the site, centered on student dialogues, to see the Mathematical Practices (MPs) in action.

The Sonoma County Office of Education has compiled instructional resources for learning more about the CCSS in Mathematics.
